Trade fairs promote Visit Laos Year held

On 27-31 October, two trade fairs were held in Savannakhet and Attapue provinces to promote the Visit Laos Year 2012. Present at the opening ceremonies were Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Mr. Vilayvanh Phomkhe, Deputy Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism Mr. Savankhone Razmountry, Savannakhet Governor Mr. Souphanh Keomisay also the delegations from three countries and relevant officials.

The trade fair in Savannakhet province held on 27-31 October drawing over 300 booths from Vietnam, Thailand and Lao provinces along East and West Economic Corridor and Mekong Sub-region, said Savannakhet Vice Governor Khampheuay Phanthachon. He added that the fair and tourism exhibition was an important for cooperation exchange and trade, investment and joint development and promotion of tourism.

In recent years, bilateral trade cooperation, investment, service and tourism between Savannakhet province and provinces from neighbouring countries of Vietnam and Thailand saw it has expended if compared to previous years.

Savannakhet will further to develop infrastructure construction and promote compatibility in business including production expansion and improvement of standard products. Savannakhet will develop together with other sub region Mekong countries with aim to overcome poverty.

Head of Savannakhet Tourism Division Mrs. Bounmy Khantivong said the trade fair was attended by 35 booths from Vietnam, 200 boots from Laos and 55 boots from Thailand.

While the same trade fair was also opened in Attapue province with trade circulation of 891 million kip on 28-31 October. The function was displayed by 72 booths from local companies with aim to promote domestic products.
